Dorothy (nee Fronczak) was the beloved wife of the late Ken (Gobish).
Loving mother of Cynthia; Ken (Diana); William (the late Kristin); and Karen (David) Hallman.
She will be missed by her dear grandchildren: Nina (Daniel) Ponce and their children, Isabel and Maya; Leah (Daniel Kim); Colette (Cole) Pezley and their children, Johnny and Geneva; Christopher (Jessica) and Annie (Eric Larmon); Sarah (Gregory) Gebien and their children, Wes and Cameron; Jackson and Claire.
Predeceased by her cherished parents, Anthony and Antoinette (nee Strama) Fronczak (a/k/a Antoni and Antonina); and her siblings, Edwin (Vivian), Wanda (Ted) Szatkowski, Henry, and Anthony.
Fondly remembered by her in-laws and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Dorothy was a devoted wife to Ken (Gobish), mother, and grandmother whose main focus was taking care of her family. They lived together on Mason Avenue in Chicago for over 50 years.
After a stint as an executive secretary at Link-Belt, she settled into her role as housewife and mom. When her youngest daughter reached high school, Dorothy got her driver’s license, went to nursing school, and became an LPN, working primarily with newborns at Christ and Holy Cross hospitals.
During retirement, Dorothy and Gobish enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and taking trips to Lake Geneva and Disneyland with their grandchildren. Dorothy was an avid gardener
who planted way too many tomatoes every year along with a mix of other veggies. She loved feeding the birds and squirrels in the back yard and also tolerated the mice and occasional rat (“It’s a pretty rat!”) that would stop for a snack under the bird feeder. She was an animal lover who pampered her dogs and cats and treated them like her babies.
Dorothy could swear up a storm, shop like crazy, cook some great meals (Polish and otherwise), and tell you what to do and how to do it. She wasn’t perfect, but she meant
a lot to many people in her 91 years and will be missed.
